11 Pieces of Advice Creators Wish They Had When Starting Out

Starting out as a creator can feel intimidating, like posting your first video while standing on stage under a giant spotlight. But here’s the truth: every creator you look up to once felt that same mix of nerves, doubt, and excitement.
At our recent creator event, we asked some of the voices in our community to share the one piece of advice they wish they had when starting their journey. Their answers? Encouraging, real, and exactly what you need to hear if you’re thinking about starting or if you just need a reminder to keep going.
Here are 11 tips from creators, for creators:
1. Just post it.
“Don’t be intimidated to post. Don’t let fear of being perceived by people you know hold you back. Your perspective is unique, and you will find your community.” — Ashley Kim (@itsashleykimchi)
That draft sitting on your phone? The only thing between it and your future audience is the post button.

2. Why not you?
“It doesn’t matter when you start. It doesn’t matter what people might think. Why not you?” — Breana Raquel (@breanaraquel)
Everyone starts somewhere. The only thing standing in the way of your creator career is convincing yourself you’re ready, which you are.

3. Do it scared.
“There’s never going to be a ‘right time.’ You’ll always be nervous. Do it anyway.” — Camilla (@camila.vilas)
Fear doesn’t go away, it just means you care. Take it with you and keep moving forward.

4. Don’t overthink it.
“Talk about the things you love, focus on community, not numbers. Comparison is the thief of joy.” — Chanel Tyler (@buymechanel)
You don’t have to have it all figured out. Share what excites you and trust the rest to fall into place.

5. Stay true to yourself.
“Do what feels best. Try new things. Pivot if you need to. Keep showing up for yourself.” — Derria Underwood (@dlolo)
Your content will evolve, and so will you. The best way forward is the one that feels authentic.

6. You’re right where you’re supposed to be.
“The world is waiting on you to open up your gifts. Don’t hide your quirks—they’re what make you unique.”— Kristine (@mskristine)
There’s no need to “fix” yourself to fit online. Your individuality is your biggest asset.

7. You deserve what you dream.
“Mereces lo que sueñas. You deserve what you dream. And you can do it.” — Luann Diaz (@luanndiez)
Your goals aren’t too big. They’re yours for a reason.

8. Consistency is key.
“Even on the days you don’t feel like showing up, do it for your future self.” — Maggie Cooper (@maggiecooper)
The small, steady steps are the ones that build the biggest opportunities.

9. Just start.
“Don’t wait for the perfect equipment or the perfect idea. You’ll grow as you go.” — Micol Cortese (@micolbeaton)
Perfect is overrated. Progress is everything.

10. Create for one person.
“If you can make one person’s day better, you’re doing a great job.” — Nicole Bruno (@nobread)
Forget the follower count for a moment. Focus on impact, not numbers.

11. Believe in yourself.
“Opportunities will come as long as you believe in yourself.” — Shar Aguilar (@sharaguilar_)
Confidence is contagious and brands, followers, and opportunities all notice it.

The Bottom Line
Every creator starts with doubts, fears, and what-ifs. But the advice from this group is clear: hit publish, stay true to yourself, and don’t wait for perfection. Your community is out there and they’re waiting for you.
